Truly unputdownable, and frankly, hilarious. I ended up ordering the whole book about twenty minutes into my break as I destroyed that sample, and soon after annihilated the whole book before the next morning. The cover was interesting enough for me to read the blurb, and then I figured I’d give the free sample they send you on kindle to give a go in my break. I started this book because (I don’t know how I always end up doing this) I found in on amazon whilst looking up something else.

But as the tension between Lucy and Joshua reaches its boiling point, it’s clear that the real battle has only just begun. Now they’re up for the same promotion and Lucy, usually a determined people-pleaser, has had enough: it’s time to take him down. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy’s overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and desire to be liked. Lucy can’t understand Joshua’s joyless, uptight approach to his job and refusal to smile. Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman sit across from each other every day. Nemesis (n.) 1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome. Sorry IMAGINE US HAPPY, you’re next as my first official American find in Barnes and Noble, I swear!

All that being said, I did technically have a different book that I was set to write about for this review, but I read THE HATING GAME in a bit of an accidental flurry, and so here we are. Itty-bitty bits of these characters would latch themselves to me, and sink on in to my own subconscious, and make me want to be something close to the same. Characters who would be tough, strong, bright and bookish, accepting of their faults, smelling like peaches, eating their bodyweight in pizza and loving it.

I read a lot of books that involved fierce red-headed ladies, charging into their lives, and then for weeks I couldn’t stop thinking about being like them flame hair and all. I couldn’t say if this is a normal thing that everyone does, but I do. A lot of my personality traits you could say I’ve gathered from fallen bits of characters I’ve dissected over the years, and added to myself. Reading, like many people, is intrinsically a large part of what makes up who I am.
